How does a virtual tournament work?

It’s all the fun of a regular tournament, but all done virtually!

Using Zoom, each competitor will log on to the video meeting using the links your school owner will provide. When it’s your turn, you’ll perform your form and sparring combos for the judges, and be given a score, just like a normal tournament.

And yes! You’ll be competing for real medals! The tournament may be virtual but the medals are 100% real and will be sent to you after the tournament!

Where to Compete?

Here are your options for where to compete in this virtual tournament:

At your Taekwondo School

You’ll perform your form and sparring combos live on video at your taekwondo school. Where you’ll have all the space you need to give your best tournament performence.

Or at your home

Using your own phone, tablet, or laptop.

Sparring combinations

In place of free-sparring, all competitors will be performing sparring combos. View sparring combos here

  • White – Sr. Orange belts will perform their normal one-steps/sparring combos.
  • Green belts – Sr Red belts will perform three specific sparring combos we’ve created for the tournament.
    Students 13 years and up will also perform two freestyle sparring combos.
  • 1st Degree Sr black belts will perform three specific sparring combos we’ve created for the tournament and two freestyle sparring combos.
  • 2nd Degree black belts and above will perform 5 freestyle sparring combos of their own creation.

 

Freestyle combos

The freestyle sparring combos will give you the chance to use your creativity and come up with your own combos!

Rules:

No less than 4 moves, no more than 8.
You’ll need approval by your school owner by September 18
(submit in writing, video, or in person).

They will be judged on flow, quality, practicality, and execution.

How does the virtual tournament work?

How do I login to the virtual tournament?

If you’re registered for the tournament, check your email, or check with your school owner.

Your school owner will be distributing the links to log on to the virtual tournament.

The virtual tournament will be held through zoom.

What is the dress code for the tournament?

Just like any other tournament, all competitors will be required to wear their full taekwondo uniform:

  • Uniform Jacket/Top
  • White Taekwondo Pants
  • Belt
Will we be sparring?

How will I get my medal?

All medals will be delivered to your school owner after the tournament, and they will distribute any medals won to you and the other students.

Do I need to make a Zoom account?

You do not have to have a Zoom account to attend a Zoom meeting.

You will be prompted to download the software, once you have clicked on the link that you have been provided.

You may also wish to create an account, but that is not required to participate in a Zoom meeting.
